What Is Disney Lorcana?
Disney Lorcana is a collectible trading card game created by Ravensburger that launched in 2023. Players become Illumineers, magical sorcerers who summon “glimmers” of Disney characters, from classic heroes and villains to fun new versions you have never seen before. The card art is a big part of the fun, and many fans collect the cards just for the artwork.
How to Play Disney Lorcana: The Basics
- The goal: Be the first player to collect 20 lore.
- Your deck: Decks have at least 60 cards, use up to two ink colors and can include up to four copies of any one card.
- The six inks: Amber, Amethyst, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Steel, each with its own play style.
- Your inkwell: Each turn you can put one card with the inkwell symbol into your inkwell, which gives you ink to play more powerful cards.
- Questing and challenging: Send characters on quests to earn lore, or challenge your opponent’s characters to slow them down.
The best way to learn is with a starter deck, which comes ready to play. Many local game stores also host weekly Disney Lorcana play nights for beginners.
