I have a confession to make. I’ve been collecting Disney Lorcana cards for a while now, and my collection has grown a lot bigger than I ever planned. I started because of the artwork. Every card looks like a tiny painting, with Disney characters drawn in ways I’d never seen before. Somewhere along the way, though, I fell in love with the whole world of Lorcana, and every new set pulls me in a little deeper.
So when a box from Ravensburger showed up at my door with the newest set, Hyperia City, inside, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. Let me show you what was inside, tell you what makes this set special, and if you’ve never heard of Disney Lorcana, explain why you might want to give it a try.
New to Disney Lorcana? Start Here
If you’ve never heard of Disney Lorcana, here’s the quick version. It’s a trading card game from Ravensburger, featuring Disney characters reimagined as magical “glimmers.” Players are called Illumineers, and the goal is to be the first to collect 20 lore by sending your characters on quests, challenging your opponent’s characters, and using songs, items, and locations along the way.
What I love is that you don’t have to be a hardcore gamer to enjoy it. Some people play competitively at local game stores. Some, like me, collect for the art and the thrill of opening a pack. A lot of people do both. I’ll be honest: I’m still learning how to play. I have a friend who’s an official Disney Lorcana judge, and every time we talk I learn something new. It’s become one of my favorite parts of this hobby. There’s always another layer to discover.
Welcome to Hyperia City
Hyperia City is a brand new magical city in the world of Lorcana, and Disney fans will love where its name comes from. It’s a nod to Hyperion Studio, Walt Disney’s original animation home before the studio moved to Burbank.
The letter in my box described it perfectly: “The streets flow with the rhythm of music. Stroll among the skyscrapers and through its various boroughs, and you’ll find a walk around town always leads to new surprises.” The city is split into neighborhoods like City Center, Wandering Straits, Old Towne Hyperia, and the Marigold District, and that last one should give you a hint about the biggest news in this set.

Coco Comes to Disney Lorcana for the First Time
Hyperia City marks the debut of Disney and Pixar’s Coco in Disney Lorcana, and I could not be more excited. Coco is one of those movies that gets me every single time, and seeing Miguel, Héctor, and the Rivera family as glimmers is something special.
The Coco cards tie right into the movie’s theme of remembering those who came before us. Some cards reward you for cards that have been “passed on” to your discard pile, which is such a clever way to bring the heart of the film into the game. Miguel and Héctor show up as Street Musicians, there’s an “Un Poco Loco” song card, and Pepita, the alebrije, appears in several versions, including a stunning full art card.
The set isn’t only Coco, either. Big Hero 6 characters like Honey Lemon appear, along with Disney Princesses and, of course, Mickey Mouse. The rarest Iconic cards in this set are Mickey Mouse, Best in Town and Cinderella, Unintentional Icon. The Enchanted cards, the shiny full art cards collectors hunt for, have a fun night out on the town theme.
What’s New: Ink Drops
Every set brings something new to the game, and Hyperia City introduces ink drops. In Lorcana, you normally pay for cards using ink, which comes from cards you’ve placed in your inkwell. Ink drops are a new kind of resource you can spend once, giving you an extra ink when you need it most. Some cards also interact with ink drops in special ways.
Even as someone still learning the game, I can see how this will shake things up. It gives players more flexibility, and I can’t wait to see what strategies people come up with.
What Was in My Box
Ravensburger sent a sneak peek of everything coming to stores this October.
Hyperia City Booster Display Box. A full box of booster packs. Opening these is always my favorite part. You never know which glimmer is waiting for you!
Illumineer’s Trove. This is a great gift for any Lorcana fan. It includes eight booster packs, six damage dice, a spin dial lore counter, and a beautiful full art box to store your cards in.

The Hyperia City Prerelease Box
The box also included the Hyperia City Prerelease Box, which you can only get by attending a Prerelease event at a participating local game store. Here’s what’s inside:
- 6 Hyperia City booster packs
- 1 Organized Play promo card (1 of 6)
- 1 Hyperia City poster
- 1 paper deck box
- 4 damage dice featuring the Lorcana icon
- 1 rules sheet
If you’ve ever wanted to try Disney Lorcana, a Prerelease event is honestly the perfect place to start. Everyone opens new packs at the same time, builds a deck from what they pull, and plays. Since everyone starts on equal footing, it’s very welcoming to new players. Most stores are happy to help you learn as you go.

Showing Off My Pulls
So whenever I get new Lorcana set, I try my best to avoid seeing the cards before I get them. I like to be surprised as I go through the sets. Of course there are always characters I’m looking for. So I was really excited to see some from Disney Afternoon with TaleSpin and of course always love to see a King Louie card. Since we are big Rapunzel fans in our house, I’m always looking for those cards and I did get one in the first pack I opened. Not to mention, getting Merlin was one I was very happy to see.

With Coco being added with this set, those cards are great and I have to admit I really love the art of these cards.

When Can You Get Hyperia City?
- Prerelease events: Begin October 16, 2026 at participating local game stores, plus select Disney Parks and Disney stores
- General release: October 23, 2026
Ravensburger has a store locator on its website to help you find a participating local game store near you. Preorders are also open now at online retailers.
Why I Keep Coming Back to Lorcana
Every time I open a new set, I’m reminded why I like Disney Lorcana in the first place. It’s Disney magic you can hold in your hands. The artwork is gorgeous, the community is welcoming, and there’s always something new to learn. Hyperia City feels like a celebration of everything that makes Disney special: music, family, art, and even a tribute to where Walt’s animation story began.
Whether you’re a longtime Illumineer, a collector like me, or someone who’s just curious, I hope you’ll give Hyperia City a look. And if you do head to a Prerelease, let me know how it goes!
Are you excited for Coco to join Disney Lorcana? Which glimmer are you hoping to pull? Let me know in the comments!
Disclosure: Ravensburger sent The Main Street Mouse these products to open and share. As always, my thoughts are completely my own.
