What Is Warriors About?
Warriors is inspired by the 1979 cult classic film The Warriors, which was based on Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel. The story follows a Coney Island gang wrongly accused of murdering a powerful gang leader, forcing them to fight their way home across New York City in a single night.
Miranda and Davis first brought the story to life with a concept album in October 2024, executive produced by Nas and featuring Lauryn Hill, Busta Rhymes, Marc Anthony, Billy Porter and Colman Domingo. The album hit No. 1 on the Billboard Compilation Album chart in its first week.
Miranda and Davis describe the show as “a dream of a more peaceful city where we all come home alive,” adding, “This is the sound of something being born.”
