The biggest stage in sports may be getting a hip hop legend. According to a report from Puck’s Dave Brooks, Jay-Z has reportedly selected himself to headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on Sunday, February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The NFL and Roc Nation have not officially confirmed the news, but if it holds, it would be Jay-Z’s first time headlining the halftime show, and it would happen during Disney’s first ever Super Bowl.

What We Know So Far
- Who: Jay-Z (reported, not yet confirmed)
- When: Sunday, February 14, 2027
- Where: SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California
- How to watch: ESPN and ABC, streaming on Disney+
- Also considered: Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, according to Puck
Jay-Z Picking Himself
Here is what makes this report so interesting. Since 2019, Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation, has partnered with the NFL to produce the halftime show and advise on its entertainment lineup. That partnership was renewed in 2024, and Jay-Z has had a major say in choosing every headliner since, including Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, The Weeknd, Dr. Dre and friends, Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny.
According to Puck, sources say Jay-Z had long been the expected choice and was seen as a more compelling option than the other names in the mix. If confirmed, he would step out from behind the scenes and onto the stage himself.
The timing is also unusual. The NFL typically announces its halftime headliner in September. Bad Bunny was announced on September 28, 2025, so an October announcement would be a bit later than usual.
Why This Matters for Disney Fans
Super Bowl LXI is ESPN’s first ever Super Bowl production. The game airs on ESPN and ABC, and as we reported, Super Bowl LXI is streaming on Disney+ for the first time. That means whoever takes the halftime stage will be performing on a Disney broadcast.
Families also have another way to watch. ESPN, Lucasfilm and the NFL announced Star Wars Funday Football, an animated alternate telecast of the Super Bowl set in the Star Wars galaxy, airing on Disney Channel and Disney XD and streaming on Disney+ and the ESPN App.
Could We See Guest Stars?
With a catalog that spans nearly three decades and collaborations with everyone from Beyoncé to Kanye West, Rihanna, Alicia Keys and Linkin Park, fans are already speculating about who could join Jay-Z on stage. Nothing has been announced, but Super Bowl halftime shows rarely go without a surprise or two.
We will update this post as soon as the NFL makes it official.
