Walt Disney Imagineering is keeping Disney fans on their toes with an ongoing interactive puzzle, and the mystery just got a little deeper. After introducing the game at D23, WDI has now released a second riddle clue as part of a fan-driven hunt to uncover the identity of a mysterious thief who stole a Society of Explorers and Adventurers artifact.
Here is the setup: during D23, Imagineers on Instagram revealed that a precious S.E.A. artifact had been stolen, and the thief left behind a trail of riddles to tease their own identity. S.E.A. archivist Bonnie Booker has been sharing the clues on social media and calling on fans to become official “S.E.A. field researchers.” Each riddle reveals a single letter from the thief’s name, though the letters are not being revealed in order, which means the full name will only come together once all the clues are out. The good news is that WDI has confirmed every riddle can be solved simply by looking up images of Disneyland online, so you do not need to be standing in the parks to play along.
RIDDLE #1
The first clue leaned into classic Disneyland theater imagery with the line “She takes your ticket from a strip, / Her lips won’t spill, but what does she sip?” and today WDI dropped the second riddle, which points to Disneyland locations with references to “a grand circle tour,” “the view from this car is quite presidential,” and “a perennial bloom…in red and gold as you climb the stair,” with the kicker being “five as you hop aboard, but need only one to get your reward.” Both puzzles are solvable through online image searches for sharp-eyed Disney fans. The game is expected to introduce a brand new character into the S.E.A. universe once the thief’s identity is fully revealed, and some fans have speculated the mystery could tie into Imagineering’s previously teased plans for Matterhorn Bobsleds.
