This week has been tough for news. One of our favorite actors, the amazing Tim Curry, has sadly passed away at the age of 80. Disney fans know him from Muppet Treasure Island and Home Alone 2 among many other things, but his career spanned so much larger than that. Sources say that the actor, who had been dealing with serious health issues for more than a decade, passed away late Tuesday night at his Los Angeles home.
Mr. Curry is most famous for his roles as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 musical comedy-horror film The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the ABC thriller miniseries It. As stated above, he is also well-known for portraying Mr. Hector in the 1992 20th Century Fox film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and for voicing Nigel Thornberry in the Nickelodeon animated series The Wild Thornberrys, Hexxus, the main villain of the 1992 Fox animated film FernGully: The Last Rainforest, Drake, the main antagonist of Don Bluth’s 1995 MGM animated film The Pebble and the Penguin, and Prince XII in Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties.
Tim Curry had a long history with DisneyX probably more than most realize. Fans like us of the television show Psych will always remember as Nigel St. Nigel from the ‘American Duos’ episode as well. Our hearts truly go out to his family, friends and fellow fans. Tim Curry won’t soon be forgotten.
