Spider-Man: Brand New Day just pulled off one of the fastest billion dollar runs in box office history. Sony announced that the film crossed $1 billion at the international box office in only 12 days, making it the second quickest movie ever to hit that mark, trailing only Avengers: Endgame. That is an incredible feat considering only 15 films in the history of cinema have ever crossed the international billion dollar threshold at all.
Combine that with its record shattering domestic haul and Brand New Day has already banked a stunning $1.67 billion worldwide. Its 10 day domestic total of $655.1 million is the biggest opening stretch of all time, and the film has already climbed to the 12th highest grossing movie ever made, unadjusted for inflation, after just two weekends in theaters. It has already zoomed past titles like The Fate of the Furious, Avatar: Fire and Ash, Furious 7, and 2019’s The Lion King, and it is closing in fast on Jurassic World for the number 11 spot on the all time chart.
The fourth film starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker and the 38th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Brand New Day picks up four years after No Way Home, with Peter living alone and forgotten by the people he loves as he throws himself completely into being Spider-Man. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton with a reported budget of $225 million, the film had an estimated break even point around $562.5 million, a number it obliterated within days. With MCU box office performance having been a bit unpredictable in recent years, this kind of runaway success feels like a genuine statement moment for Spider-Man and for Marvel Studios heading into the back half of 2026.
The bigger question now is just how high this one can climb. Brand New Day is on pace to blow past $2 billion worldwide, which would put it ahead of No Way Home as the highest grossing non Avengers movie in MCU history. Whether it can catch Endgame remains to be seen, but right now this is Spidey’s biggest box office moment yet.
