I remember for years, we’d plan our Disney vacations in the Fall or early Spring, as those were considered “down times” or less busy seasons at WDW. The wait times were less, the crowds weren’t bad, and you could easily get dining reservations. Oh, and Fall always meant Free Dining deals, another great quality. I’m not sure why, but it seems like the “slow times” are no longer, well… slow.
In the past few weeks, the Parks have been crazy busy. We haven’t even attempted going to any Parks on the weekends because the crowds have been so heavy, and fastpass selection has been minimal. Kids are back in school obviously, so that used to mean less crowds, but not anymore apparently. I wonder why this is? What changed?
We have gotten a lot of feedback in recent weeks about how Disney is already a very expensive vacation, and price increases never go over well with many Disney lovers. You’d never know it though, by crowd attendance, that folks find it too expensive to go. Actually, in the past three years that we’ve lived here, I’ve seen it slow for only two weeks, and that was September 2014. So that brings the question to mind…. are there REALLY any down times at Disney anymore?
Of course Summer is the busiest time for Disney down here in Florida, but other times of the year aren’t far off. With the upcoming expansions at the Studios and recent additions at Animal Kingdom, I can only guess that the crowds will continue to be heavy year around. For people planning their vacations around slower seasons, those times seem fewer and fewer. Disney is costly, sure, but it’s not stopping people from flocking to the parks all year long. So, what about you? Do you plan your vacations based on crowds and seasons? Let us know in the comments!

I usually go in the fall when the kids are in school up north since I live in Florida I also notice that the rates are usually low if you plan to stay in one of the Disney resorts
