As most of our Main Streeters know, we have Andy at WDW Shutterbug on staff here, helping us capture the magic of Disney through his photographs. I always enjoy Andy’s photos, they’re awesome, but for some reason, I really liked this one that he took from the Haunted Mansion at the MK. Maybe it’s because you don’t see too many pictures from inside the attraction, I’m not sure, but Haunted Mansion pictures interest me. Anyhow, here’s what Andy had to say regarding the above photo:
“I normally don’t shoot inside the dark rides because they can be a little challenging to photograph due to the poor lighting. The lighting is meant to compliment the show scenes and create the right mood for the guest but it’s also the biggest challenge for photographers. Having little light to work with requires for a wide aperture, a high ISO, and shutter speed that’s fast enough to avoid motion blur, since you’re constantly moving. This is especially true for the Haunted Mansion which has the lowest lighting from any of the dark rides.
Sunday turned out to be a good day for me. I experienced a ride breakdown right in front of an actual scene. I’ve had this ride stop many times but usually it’s right in front of a dark wall, with nothing to photograph. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my tripod with me at that moment so I had to get creative and place my camera on top of my camera bag and then try to balance that on top of the curved lap bar. This picture isn’t as good as I would have wanted but it’s the best one I’ve gotten from there, so far, so I thought I would share it.” Andy ~ WDW Shutterbug
