Soccer superstar Lionel Messi is heading to Disney+, and he’s bringing giants with him. Disney revealed the first teaser trailer for Messi and the Giants, a new animated sports fantasy series executive produced by Messi himself. It premieres in Summer 2027 on Disney+ around the world and on Disney Channel in the U.S.
A First Look Revealed at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga
The teaser premiered October 2, 2026, at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga in Spain. Fans got the first look on the Hall M stage in front of a crowd of more than 3,000 attendees, which is quite a debut for a brand new kids’ series.
What Is Messi and the Giants About?
The series follows Leo, a 12 year old boy who suddenly finds himself trapped in an alternate reality ruled by giants. If he ever wants to get home, Leo has to compete in battles that play a lot like soccer, using powerful “orbs” to take on legendary giants and restore the broken realms known as “Iko.”
There’s a catch. Leo doesn’t have the special code powers that others in this world rely on. He has to win with skill, teamwork, and determination instead. It’s a classic underdog story about courage and perseverance, which sounds like a fitting theme for a series with Messi’s name on it.
Meet the Voice of Leo
Leo is voiced by Milo Burgess-Webb, who leads the series as its young hero.
A Theme Song Made for the Stadium
The series also has a catchy theme song. “Vamos, Vamos, Vamos” is performed by Argentinian artist Luck Ra, giving the show an extra dose of Argentine pride to match its famous executive producer.
The Team Behind the Series
Along with Lionel Messi, the executive producers include Jorge Messi Pérez, Kurt Mueller, Bryan Korn, Lacey Stanton, Guy Toubes, Tom Mackay, and Sergi Reitg. Dan Creteur of Atlantis Studios directs, and animation comes from Atlantis Animation.
Messi and the Giants is produced by Sony Pictures Television, Afo Verde of Sony Music Latin Iberia, and Sony Music Vision.
When Can You Watch?
