Universal Orlando’s CityWalk had a pretty exciting weekend, and if you are planning a visit soon, your dining options just got a whole lot more interesting. Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice officially opened its doors on Saturday, September 19, and it brought a familiar face along for the ride. And that is just the start, because Five Guys Burgers and Fries is also on the way.
Joey Fatone Is in the Hot Dog Business
Yes, that Joey Fatone. The NSYNC member and Orlando native officially opened Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice at Universal CityWalk this past Saturday, and the grand opening was everything you would expect from a celebrity who grew up right down the road from the resort.
Fatone and his business partner Joe Mulvihill, both Dr. Phillips High School alumni who actually worked at Universal in its early days, were on hand at 10:00 a.m. to greet guests. The first 100 fans to arrive received wristbands for a complimentary hot dog, with Fatone personally doing the serving. And before you assume this is just a celebrity putting their name on something and walking away, Fatone himself addressed that directly: “It’s not a celebrity slapping their name on something to make some money.” This concept has been years in the making, dating all the way back to a kiosk at Florida Mall in 2016, followed by a food truck in 2018. The CityWalk location is the first permanent brick and mortar restaurant and took roughly two years to develop.

The inspiration? A hot dog stand at Lollapalooza and Fatone’s New York City roots, where Italian ice is practically a way of life.
What Is on the Menu?
Fat One’s serves nine signature hot dogs, each with a personality of its own. Here is the full lineup:
The Fat One is the flagship: a footlong loaded with roasted pork, pepperoni, chili beans, cheddar cheese sauce, red onion sauce, fries, and chives on a soft bun. The Brazilian features a grilled linguica sausage with jalapeño veganaise, cotija, Calabrian honey, red peppers, cilantro, and potato sticks on brioche. The Angelo is Fatone’s personal favorite, loaded with tzatziki, tomatoes, red onion, olive tapenade, feta, and fresh dill on brioche. The Dirty K Pop Dog brings kimchi slaw, spicy gochujang mayo, scallions, crispy onions, and black sesame to the party. The To Ny keeps it classic with sauerkraut, red onion sauce, and signature mustard. The El Fonsi, named after Fatone’s friend Luis Fonsi, stacks ham, turkey, Swiss, sofrito, onion jam, and mayo ketchup with potato sticks. The Cubano, Mulvihill’s personal pick, goes with ham, roasted pork, Swiss, mustard, and dill pickles. Johnny’s Pizza dog tops things off with Neapolitan tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, and Parmesan butter. And rounding out the menu is a Vegan option with red onion sauce, mustard, and relish.
On the Italian ice side, flavors include Lemon, Cherry, Mango, Tropical, Cotton Candy, and Blue Raspberry. Feeling adventurous? You can order yours “dirty” with a splash of liquor. The restaurant also serves three craft beers from Crooked Can Brewing, a lager, an IPA, and an amber, brewed specifically for Fat One’s. Gluten free and vegan modifications are available, and pricing is expected to run around $15 per person based on the previous Florida Mall location.
Fat One’s is located in the former Hot Dog Hall of Fame space, which closed in July 2026 after operating since 2014. No theme park ticket is required to visit, and CityWalk itself is free to enter. Parking is free after 6:00 p.m.
Five Guys Is Coming to CityWalk Too
Five Guys Burgers and Fries is also coming to Universal CityWalk, taking over the space formerly occupied by the Burger King Whopper Bar, which closed back in April 2026. No official opening date has been announced yet, but the burger chain known for its made to order burgers and hand cut fries is expected to open sometime in 2026.
