Disney Has Already Hit $4 Billion at the Box Office in 2026 and the Best May Still Be Ahead

It has been a remarkable year at the movies, and Disney is at the center of it all. Walt Disney Studios has officially crossed $4 billion at the worldwide box office in 2026, becoming the second studio this year to hit that milestone. And here is the most exciting part: the fall movie season has barely even started.

The studio’s 2026 has been nothing short of extraordinary. Toy Story 5 led the charge in a massive way, pulling in over $1 billion globally and reminding audiences everywhere just how much they love Woody, Buzz, and the whole Pixar family. The Devil Wears Prada 2 proved that legacy sequels can absolutely deliver when done right, earning around $692 million worldwide. Pixar’s original film Hoppers brought in close to $390 million, The Mandalorian and Grogu pulled $345 million from fans eager to see their favorite characters on the big screen, and the live action Moana contributed another $281 million to the total.

That is a staggering lineup, and it got Disney to $4 billion before fall even truly kicked off.

Seven Films Still to Come This Fall

Just this week, Disney revealed its fall theatrical slate and there is something for just about everyone. Here is a look at what is on the way:

Ka chow Pixar's "Cars" Is Heading Back to Theaters This September to Celebrate Its 20th Anniversary

Cars 20th Anniversary (Re Release) arrives September 4, giving fans a chance to relive Lightning McQueen’s journey to Radiator Springs on the big screen again. A perfect family outing.

Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger hits select IMAX theaters September 11, chronicling the legendary rock band’s historic reunion tour from 2025. A must for music fans.

Avengers Endgame is Heading Back to Theaters in September with an Exclusive Avengers Doomsday Preview

Avengers Endgame: Encore lands September 25, bringing the beloved Marvel epic back to theaters with exclusive new footage offering a preview of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. A very smart way to build excitement.

Portrait of an Artist: Stephen Curry opens October 9 exclusively in IMAX, capturing the NBA legend’s historic achievement of reaching 4,000 career three pointers through the lens of ESPN Films.

Whalefall opens October 16, a survival thriller from 20th Century Studios following a man trapped inside a whale with a rapidly dwindling oxygen supply. This one sounds intense and unlike anything we have seen from the studio in a while.

Everest: The Other Side arrives October 30, a documentary from Oscar winning filmmakers following mountaineers attempting an extremely dangerous ski descent down the North Face of Everest. Just in time for Halloween weekend.

Wild Horse Nine from Searchlight Pictures closes out this portion of the slate on November 6. Directed by Martin McDonagh and starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell, this dramedy is set on Easter Island in 1973 and sounds like a fascinating awards season contender.

And that is not even counting Walt Disney Animation’s Hexed, arriving over Thanksgiving, or Avengers: Doomsday, which is set for December 18 and could push Disney’s 2026 total to truly historic numbers.

A Year to Remember

Disney is the second studio to reach $4 billion this year, with Universal having crossed that mark first, but with Avengers: Doomsday still to come, it is very possible Disney closes out 2026 at the top of the industry. The MCU’s return to the Avengers level event film has been one of the most anticipated releases in years, and if it delivers anywhere near the level of excitement that surrounds it, Disney’s year end total could be jaw dropping.

2026 is already shaping up to be one of the best years at the box office since before the pandemic, and Disney is a huge reason why. It is a great time to be a Disney fan and a movie fan.
