Zachary Levi says Timothée Chalamet could play Flynn in Potential Tangled live-action movie

There have been rumors floating around about a potential live action adaptation of the movie “Tangled” for quite some time. Whether or not it will happen remains to be seen. Zachary Levi had some thoughts about casting Flynn Rider, here’s what he had to say!

“I mean, he’s already getting every other job, but probably Timothée Chalamet,” the Shazam! actor, 43, told Entertainment Tonight of his pick at the Los Angeles premiere of Harold and the Purple Crayon. “Unfortunately I feel like I’m a little old and I don’t know all of the younger actors that could be that guy.”

Chalamet has already been in previous musicals. He recently headlined the 2023 musical Wonka, about chocolatier Willy Wonka from the Roald Dahl classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and is set to play a young Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown.

Levi played Flynn Rider (real name Eugene Fitzherbert) in 2010’s Tangled, Disney’s animated musical retelling of the Rapunzel tale. Mandy Moore voiced Rapunzel, while Donna Murphy voiced the memorable and utterly evil Mother Gothel.

Disney has not officially confirmed a Tangled live-action movie, it’s just chatter currently. But Levi is all for the idea of a live-action — and even has a pitch for his and Moore’s return: “I think it would be fun if Mandy and I got to be Rapunzel’s parents,” Levi said. “I think that would be a really fun little cameo for us.”

Speaking to Elite Daily earlier this month, Moore echoed Levi’s pitch to be Rapunzel’s mother in a potential live-action, also sharing that she would pick pop star Sabrina Carpenter as her successor. “I could see her with 50 feet of hair or something,” Moore said. “She looks like a Disney princess in real life.” She also proposed a “mother-daughter” duet with the “Espresso” hitmaker.

As a huge Tangled fan, I’m so on the fence about this one. Some live action remakes have done well, but there’s something to be said about leaving originals alone. I’d be happy if we had a Tangled attraction at WDW or Disneyland,  not necessarily a new movie. What are your thoughts?
