Universal Epic Universe is already gearing up for its next big thrill! Universal Orlando Resort announced today, November 5, 2026, that a brand new indoor coaster is coming to Dark Universe, one of the theme park’s five worlds. The news comes just over a year after Epic Universe officially opened.
What We Know About the New Dark Universe Coaster
- Location: Dark Universe, right next to the award winning Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment
- Ride type: an indoor thrill coaster
- Story: an all new tale inspired by the classic Universal Monsters
- Status: construction is already underway
- Opening: planned for the years ahead, with no official date yet
Universal says more details about the coaster, including its name and story, will be shared at a later date. A second major ride would give Dark Universe a thrilling companion to Monsters Unchained and give fans of Dracula, Frankenstein and the rest of the classic monsters even more reasons to visit the eerie village of Darkmoor.
More New Experiences Coming to Universal Orlando
The new coaster is just one of several projects coming to Universal Orlando Resort. Over the next year alone, guests can look forward to:
- Universal Horror Make-Up Show featuring Blumhouse: the reimagined classic returns with Blumhouse scares later this year at Universal Studios Florida
- Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift: a high speed roller coaster opening in 2027 at Universal Studios Florida
- A new signature restaurant in Jurassic Park: a full service dining spot opening in 2027 at Universal Islands of Adventure
- Luke Combs’ Category 10: a music and entertainment venue slated to open at Universal CityWalk in late 2027
