Marvel Announces Zodiac, a New Spy Thriller Series Coming to Disney+ in 2028

October 8, 2026

Marvel Television has a new mystery on its hands. During its panel at New York Comic Con, Marvel revealed its next series is called Zodiac, and while details are being kept under wraps, the logo alone has fans buzzing about which famous team could be making a comeback.

Marvel Announces Zodiac a New Spy Thriller Series Coming to Disney+ in 2028

What We Know About Zodiac

Brad Winderbaum, Head of Marvel Television, Animation, Comics and Franchise, announced the series to the NYCC crowd and kept things short and secretive.

“It’s a global spy thriller,” Winderbaum said. “And no, I can’t tell you anything else about it yet because it’s a secret!”

Here’s what Marvel has confirmed so far:

  • Genre: A global spy thriller
  • Filming: Begins in spring 2027 in London
  • Casting: Starts “in a couple weeks,” according to Winderbaum
  • Release: 2028 on Disney+

No cast, writers or plot details have been announced yet.

The Clues Hidden in the Logo

Winderbaum did leave fans with one hint. He said that if you look closely at the title design, “you’ll see a few clues about where we’re going.”

Fans quickly noticed that the logo features design elements that resemble the logo of S.H.I.E.L.D., the spy agency that played a big role in the MCU from Iron Man through Captain America: The Winter Soldier and beyond. Combined with the spy thriller genre, many, including ComicBook.com, believe Zodiac could bring S.H.I.E.L.D. back into the MCU in a major way.

Marvel hasn’t confirmed that connection, but it’s not hard to see why fans are making the leap.

Who Is Zodiac in the Comics?

In Marvel Comics, the Zodiac is a criminal organization whose members take their names and themes from the twelve signs of the zodiac. Over the years, the group has clashed with heroes like Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers, which only adds fuel to the S.H.I.E.L.D. theories.

Whether the series follows the comics closely or takes the name in a new direction remains to be seen.

A Big Weekend for Marvel at NYCC

Zodiac was one of several Marvel reveals from New York Comic Con, which also included a new VisionQuest trailer ahead of its October 14 premiere and a first look at the Defenders in Daredevil: Born Again. Catch up on everything we’re watching from the convention in our NYCC 2026 preview.

Marvel also announced three new Marvel Zombies specials and revealed that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 arrives on Disney+ January 13, 2027.

With filming starting next spring, expect casting news for Zodiac in the coming months, and we’ll share it as soon as it’s announced.
