Star-Lord is swapping his Awesome Mix for something a little more festive. Disney announced today that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT will feature three holiday songs this season, giving riders a seasonal soundtrack as they blast through the cosmos to save the galaxy.
The Cosmic Rewind Holiday Playlist
Starting November 25, riders may hear one of these three tracks:
- “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams
- “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
- “Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses
Just like the regular soundtrack, the holiday songs will be shuffled, so you won’t know which one you’ll get until the music kicks in.
It’s a fun mix. Andy Williams brings the classic 1963 holiday standard, The Waitresses bring a quirky 1981 new wave favorite that fits right in with the ride’s ’70s and ’80s vibe, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra brings the big one: an instrumental that blends “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Carol of the Bells” with soaring rock guitars. If any song was made for spinning backward through space, it might be that one.
When Can You Hear the Holiday Songs?
The holiday tracks begin November 25, two days ahead of the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, which runs November 27 through December 30.
As for the end date, you will have till January 6, 2027 to ride with the Holiday Remix songs.
What About the Regular Songs?
Disney describes the usual six song lineup as the soundtrack used outside the holiday season, so it appears the holiday tracks will take over during this window. The regular playlist includes:
- “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire
- “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps
- “Conga” by Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine
- “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears
- “I Ran (So Far Away)” by A Flock of Seagulls
- “One Way or Another” by Blondie
Not Cosmic Rewind’s First Holiday Overlay
This isn’t the first time the Guardians have gotten into the holiday spirit. During the attraction’s first holiday season in 2022, Cosmic Rewind debuted a “Holiday Remix,” a single original medley built from classic holiday tunes with Guardians themed lyrics, including a “Run Rudolph Run” rewrite starring Rocket. Every rider heard the same song, and it ran from November 25 to December 30, 2022, alongside the debut of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+.
This year’s approach is different. Instead of one custom track, Disney is using three well known holiday recordings and keeping the shuffle element that makes repeat rides so much fun.
Which song are you hoping to get? I’m hoping for Christmas Wrapping.
