Marvel fans, we have some bittersweet news. Daredevil: Born Again will officially end with its upcoming third season on Disney+, making it the final chapter for this version of the fan favorite series.
The news broke on September 21, 2026, with cast members being informed that Season 3 will serve as the show’s conclusion. Production on the final season has already wrapped and episodes are currently in post-production, with a 2027 premiere expected on Disney+.
What Happened?
Along with the series ending news, showrunner and co-creator Dario Scardapane has exited the show in the middle of post-production after Marvel chose not to renew his contract. Scardapane had been a key creative force behind the series, having joined the production back in 2023 following a major overhaul that reshaped the show’s direction. He previously worked on Netflix’s The Punisher. As of now, it is unclear who will step in to see the final season through to completion.
The Full Journey of Born Again
For those who have followed Daredevil since the Netflix days, this series has had quite a road. Daredevil: Born Again debuted on Disney+ in 2025, bringing back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in what was essentially a complete reimagining of the property. Season 1 drew an impressive 7.5 million viewers in its first five days. Season 2 arrived in March 2026 and featured the return of Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and introduced Krysten Ritter back as Jessica Jones, though it saw roughly a 50% viewership decline from the first season. Notably, Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson was killed off in the very first episode of the series.
Season 3 will now bring the story of this chapter of Daredevil to a close.
What Does This Mean for Daredevil and the MCU?
This is the big question, and right now Marvel and Disney have not offered any official statements about what comes next for Matt Murdock or Wilson Fisk within the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe. Earlier plans had called for annual season releases, so the decision to wrap the show after three seasons does represent a change in direction. Whether Daredevil continues in some form through films or other Disney+ projects remains to be seen.
For fans who have been along for the ride since the Netflix era, this is certainly the end of an era. But with Season 3 arriving in 2027, there is still one more chapter to look forward to — and Marvel does have a history of finding ways to keep beloved characters in the universe.
