Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is always something special — but this year, Pixar Place Hotel is getting in on the fun in a big way with its very first Halloween transformation. And trust us, it’s a monster-sized deal.

Guests staying at or visiting Pixar Place Hotel can now spot brand-new decorative artwork featuring Mike, Sulley, Boo, and more of your favorite Monsters, Inc. characters all dressed up in their Halloween best. We’re talking costumes, candy, and all the playful storytelling details you’d expect from the world of Monstropolis — and it took two years of work to pull it off.
The Creative Mind Behind the Makeover

The artist at the heart of it all is Brett Snodgrass, a digital artist on Disneyland Resort’s Resort Enhancement team who has been bringing stories to life across the resort for over eight years.
“I’ve been a designer for a really long time,” Brett shares. “And that moment when I see the piece completed is really exciting to me.”
The concept came together when a fellow team member floated the idea of exploring what Halloween would look like for Mike, Sulley, and Boo. Brett was immediately hooked. He started pulling on threads from the Monsters, Inc. universe — the iconic doors, the trick-or-treat tradition — and built a story around them.
“I started to think: Monsters, Inc., Halloween, trick-or-treat, and doors,” Brett explains. “You can see all of our monster characters in the artwork having fun, wearing costumes and passing the candy back and forth between our world and theirs.”
The result is a collection of layered, detail-rich artwork scattered throughout the hotel — the kind that rewards guests who slow down and really look.

Staying True to the Pixar Magic
Designing new art around beloved Pixar characters isn’t something Brett took lightly. He spent serious time studying the original concept artwork from the Monsters films to make sure everything felt authentic.
“There are some brilliant concept artists who’ve worked on the Monsters movies over the years, and I think they’re just beautiful movies,” he says. “Guests are going to see a lot of shapes and compositions that really reflect some of that early concept artwork.”
The designs also went through a close collaboration with Pixar to ensure the characters stayed true to their established looks and personalities. Once everything got the green light, the project passed to printers, graphic technicians, and installers who brought the artwork off the screen and into the spaces guests actually walk through.

Two Years in the Making
Brett has a personal tradition for every art installation he contributes to the resort — right after installation, he walks the space alone and takes it all in. This one hit a little differently.
“It’s a really incredible feeling knowing that after two years of development, people are finally going to be able to experience this,” he said. “This just feels really special.”
And beyond seeing his own work on display, what matters most to Brett is the guest experience — families finding their favorite characters, friends spotting hidden details, and everyone making memories together during the Halloween season.

Go Find the Hidden Details
If you’re heading to the Disneyland Resort for Halloween Time this fall, make sure to stop by Pixar Place Hotel and check out the Monsters, Inc.-inspired decor for yourself. Keep an eye out for the trick or scream candy bags, the character costumes, and the little nods to the films that Brett wove throughout — there’s more to discover than you might expect on first glance.

This is exactly the kind of thoughtful, story-driven detail that makes Disney resorts so special, and it’s a treat (pun intended) to get a peek behind the curtain at the artist who made it happen.
