New Ordering System For Food Will Debut With Pandora At Animal Kingdom

From Dewayne Bevil, Reporter for the Orlando Sentinel

A new restaurant in a new land will be the first to offer a new way of ordering food at Walt Disney World. Satu’li Canteen, a fast-casual eatery coming to Pandora — The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, will debut the company’s Mobile One system, which will use the existing My Disney Experience app.

Here’s how it will work after Pandora officially opens May 27, Disney says:

For Satu’li Canteen, theme park visitors will have the option of ordering remotely and pre-paying using the smartphone app. Upon arrival at the restaurant, they will hit the “I’m here” button, which will alert the kitchen to prepare the meal.

When the meals are ready, the app will alert the diners to pick up the food at a designated window, which will allow them to bypass the usual line of folks waiting to order at Satu’li (which is pronounced “sa-too-lee,” Disney says).

Mobile Order will only accept credit cards at this time, Disney says, although the Disney Dining Plan, a prepaid meal package offered to people who are staying in a Walt Disney World hotel, will be accepted at Satu’li Canteen.

Pandora will also feature Pongu Pongu, a drink kiosk.

The Mobile Order system eventually will spread to additional quick-service and fast-casual restaurants on Walt Disney World property, the company says. It has not specified where or when.

The app news was included in a post on the official Disney Parks Blog concerning the restaurant’s look and menu. The building will represent a former mess hall that’s been transformed into a “museum-like dining room” by a Pandora tour company, the item said. Among the food offerings will be quinoa, sweet-potato hash, kale salad, slow-roasted beef, sustainable fish, chili-spiced fried tofu and cheeseburger bao buns.
