Disney Begins Scanning of Fingerprints for Children 3 to 9 as Fraud Prevention

0mymagic

In an effort to prevent fraud, children between the ages of 3 and 9 years old will now have to scan their fingerprint upon entry into Walt Disney World Parks, the same way older guests do.

The reason for the change is that Disney is trying to prevent the use of stolen and shared tickets. Previously, younger children’s tickets were more easily transferable because they had no finger images attached to them. Disney uses whats called “finger geometry” which is pictures of several points on people’s fingers.

Parents who aren’t comfortable with having their children get their fingers scanned can use their own instead.
