Pirates of the Caribbean Fans with a Nintendo DS Can Search for Hidden Treasure at Disney Parks

Disney Interactive Studios Announces Exclusive Content for Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End Through Walt Disney Parks and Resorts First-Ever Wireless Initiative

BURBANK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Gold doubloons have lost their luster as Nintendo DS owners search for a different kind of hidden treasure. Timed to the release of the Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End video games, Disney Interactive Studios announced today a partnership with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts to release exclusive content for the upcoming Nintendo DS video game at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort where wireless capabilities are in beta testing as part of ongoing New Media enhancements.
Beginning May 22 with the release of the video game, Disney park guests who bring their Nintendo DS and a copy of the Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End DS video game with them during their visit can download new video game content at specific X-marks-the-spot hotspots hidden near the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions. This download unlocks new content such as unlimited health and savvy as well as fun extras, including additional costumes. This special content is only available to Disney park visitors and can be accessed with a Nintendo DS.

As we look for new ways to enhance our guests visits, the Nintendo DS is a perfect fit for our program since it is popular and easy to bring to the Disney park.
The Nintendo DS Download Program for Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End is available free of charge to any park guest carrying a Nintendo DS system that contains a copy of the video game. For Nintendo DS owners without a copy of the new video game, Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End will be available for purchase in stores at both parks. The program will begin on May 22 and is scheduled to run through Labor Day.

In Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End for Nintendo DS, players must develop swashbuckling skills to defeat enemies and navigate environments. With a focus on adventure and platform mechanics, players take on the roles of Captain Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner in a journey that expands beyond the events, environments and characters of the Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End film. Developed by Amaze Entertainment, a division of Foundation 9 Entertainment, the video game is rated E 10+ for Everyone ten and older by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) and will be available at retailers nationwide beginning May 22.
On May 22, Disney Interactive Studios will also release Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End video games developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software for home consoles, including the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Wii home video game system and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system as well as versions for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and Windows PC. The versions developed by Eurocom are rated T for Teen by the ESRB.
