Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Disney’s first full length feature film. It’s premiere was held on 12/21/37 at Carthay Circle Theater, and it’s nationwide release was 2/4/38. To finance the film Disney took out multiple loans, even mortgaging his own house.
The women in Disney’s Ink and Pain department used real blush on the animation cells to give Snow her rosy cheeks. Moroni Olsen wore a special frame covered with drum heads over his head to create the Magic Mirror’s hollow-sounding voice. Walt would gather the animation group together with live animals to ensure they forest creatures were captured properly. All of the Dwarfs have very expressive eyebrows, and all but Happy’s were modeled after Walt’s eyebrows and the way he would use them in meetings with the animators.
Snow White was the first released movie soundtrack. Several songs for the movie didn’t make the final cut, including “Music in Your Soup” which Disney later released on the soundtrack.

Snow White’s star can be found at the South side of the 6900 block of Hollywood Boulevard.
