When visiting a Disney Park, we see people from all over the world, all walks of life, and basically a truly diverse crowd. Now that we’re locals, we have a whole new understanding of the dynamics of how Disney works, and how it touches the lives of people everywhere. I’ve never been anyplace else where you see a complete melting pot of people, not like Disney has anyhow. Have you ever sat and just people watched at Disney? It’s worth it to do so. Why is that? Well, if you do, you’ll see for yourself that Disney is universal and we all love it the same, especially at the Magic Kingdom.

There’s something to be said for walking under the train station near the entrance of the Magic Kingdom, and the anticipation you feel as you head towards Main Street USA and see Cinderella Castle for the first time. It doesn’t necessarily have to be your first time ever seeing the Castle, it could be just the first time that trip, or that week. It still gives you that special feeling. The next time you’re on Main Street, look around, do a little people watching. You can always spot a first timer on Main Street. That person usually has a look of childhood wonder and excitement, no matter what their age is. We all feel that way at one point or another, don’t we? Well if you’re a seasoned Disney vet, take a look at the newbies around you, I promise that it will make your heart swell!

The same kind of people watching can be done during a parade or fireworks display. Have you ever looked around you during Wishes at night, and seen people with tears in their eyes? I sure have. It usually makes me cry too. Heck, sometimes I get teary still during the Festival of Fantasy Parade, and I’m not even sure why. I just love that parade, and I’ve seen it over and over again, it never gets old. If I get that excited during the parade, I can only imagine how a first timer feels, it’s the best. I remember when I took my Mom and Dad to the Magic Kingdom last September, they had that look too. They loved the parade, and really enjoyed Wishes too. My Dad, who was previously a Disney skeptic, looked like a big kid by the end of the day, taping Wishes on his phone and loving every minute of it. That’s what Disney does. It breaks down barriers of age, language, nationalities….. everyone loves it the same.

So, the next time you’re at a Disney destination, take a look around you. People watching is always fun to do, but at Disney, it will do your heart good. Just seeing how the magic of Disney effects others is truly a pixie dust filled experience, it’s amazing!
