Happy Wednesday Everyone! It’s time for our weekly check in on what’s been happening down here in sunny Florida in the past week. We’ve been busy, and I’m finding that our lives down here really have become somewhat of a balancing act between work, family, and leisure time. Sometimes work and fun time coincide, but we do end up juggling things around to make it all work. Speaking of fun work, MegaCon 2015 was held in Orlando this past weekend, and we were given media passes to attend the event.
Attending comic conventions is something I’m new at. Yes, I’m a Disney girl, and they did have Disney related material and such there, but MegaCon is so much more than that. I was so surprised at all the people dressed as their favorite characters, some characters I had no idea who they were, but I digress. The comic community is enormous, and these events are a huge deal for fans. I’m going to do a separate write up about MegaCon, so I don’t want to give too much away, but it really was a fun and interesting event to cover. The Star Wars props and memorabilia were fantastic, it got me a bit more excited for Star Wars Weekends at the Studios! Two high points were getting up close for photos of Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead (his handler took me up there) and getting to talk to Lou Ferrigno, the original Incredible Hulk. What an experience! Work days like that are tiring but so much fun to do!
We had various Main Streeters in town for Spring Break last week and I had gotten a lot of messages from people wanting to meet up in the parks. It was a busy week and I did my best to see who I could, but no worries, we’ll be announcing meet ups soon. Another reason we were so swamped was because I had my parents coming in to town and I had to get ready for that. They arrived on Saturday evening and we’ve been busy ever since. We are trying to balance being a good host to the parents and still getting all of our Main Street work done. So far so good! As most of you know, my mother has been sick and had surgery recently, so I wasn’t sure if they’d be able to come down here. Well, thank the good Lord above, she’s doing much better and they made it. We’ve been taking things pretty slow and laying low, but I did manage to get them to spend a few hours at Epcot on Sunday, then a few hours at Animal Kingdom yesterday. We’re taking it all in stride, but I’m glad they’re here!
Well that’s it for this week! We have a full schedule until we talk again next Wednesday, but you’ll be sure to be in the loop on all that’s going on. Until then, sending you lots of blessings, hugs and pixie dust! See ya real soon.. ~M
