Tour participants will see how Disney makes and distributes over 3 tons of food a day to the 250 species of animals while exploring the Animal Nutrition Center and backstage animal-housing area. Guests will also get to see the park’s veterinary hospital and witness how the animals are cared for and learn about behavioral studies. The final stop will be at the Animal Programs Admin building where guides will explain Disney’s global conservation program and a portion of the tour’s proceeds will go to Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund.
The Backstage Tales Tour at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is $90 per person and will be held daily from 7:15-11:15 am. Guests participating in the tour must be at least 12 years old and have a photo ID in their possession during the program. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Guests should check in a the park’s Main Entrance fifteen minutes before their tour.
Disney’s “Know Before You Go” information section for this tour reminds guests that while guests have a chance for interaction with the animals it is not guaranteed. Also due to the tour being outside the majority of the time guests are encouraged to bring their own water. Cameras and video recording will not be allowed in backstage areas but will be encouraged in the proper non-backstage areas. Guests should wear comfortable clothing and proper shoes as there will be lots of walking in this outdoor tour.
Per Disney “This is both an indoor and outdoor program, including moderate walking and stair climbing. Guests with special needs can be accommodated with prior notice.” To book this or any other Walt Disney World tour call (407) WDW-TOUR, group reservations should call (407) 566-2620.
