Happy Wednesday Main Streeters! It’s time for our weekly check in! This week we got to try something a little different among our regular day to day activities, can’t wait to tell you about it! Let’s chat!
One thing that’s always been on my bucket list was to swim with dolphins. Dolphins are just the sweetest things, and we always love to check them out when possible. My little guy has two dolphin stuffed animals that he sleeps with too, so yes, we like them a lot. We have been to SeaWorld and saw the dolphins playing around in their designated area, but I never thought we’d get an up close experience! Lucky for us, we did! I don’t want to give too much away, being that I’m writing a blog about it for Off TMSM, but the nice folks at Discovery Cove invited us out for the day to swim with their dolphins and explore their park. I can’t even tell you how amazing that was. When we got in the water with the dolphins, I seriously wanted to cry. I never thought I’d get to do something like that, and felt pretty blessed that I was able to. The weather was chilly that day, but at that moment, it really didn’t matter. The dolphins were so smart and just precious, what a day! If you can get over to Discovery Cove to have that experience, I highly recommend it. It’s a little pricey, but I’m going to try to save up to bring the kids back for their birthdays this summer, they would love it.
The weather has been pretty mild here in Florida. In talking to my family back home, I’ve seen that they got a HEAP of snow, like a foot, and schools were closed at the beginning of the week. The boys used to love snow days, and we don’t get that here. But, it’s a trade off, at least we don’t have to shovel and scrape car windows. We took a walk around Downtown Disney and saw more progress being made on the construction there. Disney Springs is going to be great once it’s all done. The store fronts are really nice looking, plus we’re getting more places to shop and eat. That’s a good thing! Shopping and food, two of my favorite things! Speaking of new things, we also headed over to Universal last weekend to cover the Celebration of Harry Potter that was going on. I knew people at Disney were into Disney Bounding, but didn’t realize that Harry Potter fans did the same. We saw more Harry Potter robes and costumes that day than I ever do when it comes to Disney Bounding. Potter fans are really determined, it was pretty cool. The kids and I tried on the robes, but didn’t buy them! At $110 a pop, it’s not a cheap hobby to get into! It was fun to be there and see others get so into it though, being that Universal and the Potter craze is new to us. It’s fun to branch out!
We got to Skype with my parents again, which is always nice. Last night though, I could see the family room where they were sitting and picture myself being there too. Being away from the people you love most is so hard when you sit and think about it. My birthday is next week and I’m dreading it just a pinch, because this will be the first time since I was born that I won’t see my family on that day. My parents told me I need to Skype them so they can see me! It’s all about adjusting, and just when I feel I’m fully adjusted, I get little reminders that I’m not. Change is hard, but I’m blessed to have amazing support from so many people, so I work to keep that in mind.
Well, that’s it for this week’s update. As always, thank you for following along with us. Don’t forget to watch Off TMSM for the upcoming article on the dolphin swim, I can’t wait to tell you all about it! Have a safe and magical week, we’ll be chatting again before you know it! Until next week, see ya real soon! ~M
