It’s Wednesday and time for our weekly Florida living blog! It’s also the day before our first Thanksgiving here in Florida, away from family and friends. We’re doing ok, even with the holiday looming. I can’t believe it’s been 5 months already since we made the trek down to Florida. Where has the time gone? Not sure, but it’s moving fast! Sooooo…. let’s see what’s been going on since last week!
The weather down here has been all over the board, it’s crazy. We’ve gone from sweater weather, to shorts and tee shirts, then back to pulling out the hoodies today. I think I’m getting a cold or something from all the bouncing back and forth in temps, but I can’t really complain, it could be worse. My Mom says that it’s been cold and snowy back home in Michigan, so at least we don’t have that. Speaking of being cold…. Last Thursday night we attended the media preview for the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee (above pic). We got to put on parkas and walk through a freezing cold 9 degree Winter Wonderland of ice sculptures! It wasn’t bad, being that we’re used to cold temps! It was amazing and beautiful, and sort of felt like home, which was a good thing! The next night, we had friends in town and we went back to the Osborne Lights at Hollywood Studios to take in some Christmas cheer (videos below). That’s the second time we saw the lights, and we enjoyed them just as much. Even though it doesn’t “feel” like Christmas to us here in Florida, going to these festive activities really does help bring you that special holiday feeling. Can’t wait to do it again! Let’s see what else…… We saw the Festival of Fantasy Parade in the rain on Saturday, went to the Big Hero 6 meet and greet at the Studios on Monday, and have been laying low since. I’m a bit under the weather, so the break is welcomed.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and even though I can’t be with my family, I’m still grateful for them and wish I could be with them like we usually are. This is a first in my life, being away from family on a major holiday, I’ll miss them. I think we are going to make our own little first Florida Thanksgiving dinner here at home, watch our home team the Detroit Lions play some football, and just huddle together for some family time. I thank you all for reading our updates and sharing our journey each week, it’s very much appreciated. Until next week… Happy Thanksgiving Disney Family, I wish you all a safe and blessed holiday! See Ya Real Soon! ~M
