Guests to the Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World, will soon be able to start using the complex’s first new parking garage on Nov. 20.
The Downtown area right now is under heavy construction. Between redesigning the former Pleasure Island and other areas into Disney Springs, adding the garages, it’s been difficult to park lately. There are other lots opened for the public to use, accross the street, but the congestion walking around the area is bad on busy nights.
With the opening of the garage, that should make parking much easier. Even before the construction, it was difficult on busy nights to find a parking space.
On Novemeber 20th, the first to the fourth floor will be open to the public and will add 1,700 parking spots. By December, there will be nearly 3,000 spots. With those types of spaces available, this should lighten up some of the traffic issues around the area.
The entire Disney Springs project will have a total of 6,000 parking spaces between 2 garages. There will also be 2 pedestrian bridges, they are widening Buena Vista Drive with dedicated bus lines and there will also be a exit ramp from Interstate 4 that will lead directly into the garage.
As we hear more news about the project, we will be sure to pass it along.
