We all go through phases of what we like and love. Sometimes our Disney favorites are short lived, and sometimes they are things that stick with us for good. I know for my kids, their likes change all the time. Just because they are obsessed with a character or movie this week, doesn’t mean it’s going to last. For my younger son, one of his favorite Disney things right now is Duffy. I think partly because he’s still little and really is into stuffed animals, so it goes hand in hand.
Last week at Epcot, Aidan finally got to meet Duffy. He loves stuffed bears, so this was huge for him. He ran up and gave Duffy the biggest hug, almost knocked him over too! To me, him hugging an over sized teddy bear was the sweetest thing. Kids grow up so fast and they’re only little for so long. My older son Andrew doesn’t see the appeal of Duffy, but that doesn’t surprise me. He’s into Kingdom Hearts right now, but if history repeats itself, that will change too.
As a Mom who’s probably wishing the kids would stay little longer, I just try to encourage them to like whatever they want to. If it’s a huge stuffed bear, so be it. Time marches on and thing will change, but for now, I’m enjoying watching them be kids and get excited over the little things. Or in this case…. a big teddy bear! You can meet Duffy too at select times at Epcot, right at the beginning of World Showcase!
