Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon turns 25 on June 1st!

There have been many times when Main Streeters have asked which Disney water park do I prefer, Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? In my humble opinion, I like Typhoon Lagoon better! I love the tropical setting, the slides, lazy river, etc. Well, my water park of choice is having a birthday on June 1st! Here’s some thoughts courtesy of Disney Parks Blog!

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will mark 25 years of slip-sliding fun this Sunday, June 1. The park opened June 1, 1989, to offer the largest wave pool in North America, the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, plus a bevy of storm-themed water slides and a dedicated Ketchakiddee Creek area for little ones. Crush ‘N’ Gusher, the first water coaster to be built at Walt Disney World Resort, debuted in 2005.

What I like about this Disney waterpark is that it’s so unique – in addition to water slides and a lazy river, the park offers snorkeling in Shark Reef, a 362,000-gallon salt-water tank that is home to bonnethead sharks, stingrays, and many kinds of fish. It also offers in-park surf lessons (at a separate cost) that allow guests to take on six-foot waves in the park’s Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool. The park is also home to one of my personal favorite treats – the Sand Pail, which offers up chocolate and vanilla ice cream topped with waffles cone chips, cookie bits, sprinkles, hot fudge, caramel, strawberry sauce, whipped cream and a cherry.

Are you a Typhoon Lagoon fan too?
