As almost everyone in the Disney community knows, today March 9th is the beginning of a new parade debut at the Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World. The Festival of Fantasy Parade will kickoff today at 3:00 PM EST. The Main Street Mouse will deliver you photos and video of the parade as soon as we can today.
Let’s take a look back at the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade. The parade debuted on January 23, 2009, and was the third incarnation of the Share A Dream Come True Parade, which originally debuted in 2001. Sadly the parade ended its run on January 4, 2014 with the announcement of a new parade coming to the Magic Kingdom.
Beloved Disney Characters danced on dazzling floats as they celebrated dreams come true! You’re sure to spot some of your Disney favorites in this delightful parade that made its way between Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. and Frontierland.
Some of the Disney Characters you might spot in this popular parade included:
- Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto
- Snow White
- Alice in Wonderland and The Mad Hatter
- Peter Pan and Captain Hook
- Pinocchio
- Aladdin
Like history come to life, this parade paid tribute to classic Disney stories and characters that have touched so many lives. Disney’s statement of the parade was “Enjoy this celebration to relive the dreams of youth and create new dreams for a new generation.”
The floats that were a part of the parade were:
Mickey and Minnie
Pinocchio and Snow White
Aladdin and Pooh
Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland
Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother
The Crystal Float
