Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem are getting into the holiday spirit, sort of. Disney announced today that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will receive its first holiday overlay, appropriately titled “Obligatory Holiday Overlay,” running November 4 through January 6.

Holiday Cheer Starts Outside G-Force Records
The seasonal fun kicks off before you even get in line. Holiday music will play throughout the courtyard around the attraction’s giant guitar marquee, setting the mood for what Disney is billing as a holiday concert only The Electric Mayhem could pull off.

A Holiday Rehearsal That Doesn’t Go as Planned
Inside G-Force Records, guests will find Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot and Lips rehearsing for their holiday show. A few other Muppets, including Gonzo and Rizzo, drop by the studio to lend a hand, though in true Muppets fashion, their help doesn’t exactly make things smoother. As showtime approaches, the band’s holiday prep goes about as well as you’d expect from a group better known for jamming than keeping a schedule.

Scooter is once again at the center of the preshow. His Audio-Animatronics figure, the first ever made of the character, was programmed by Walt Disney Imagineering using motion capture of the actual Scooter Muppet, which is why the figure’s movements and expressions feel so true to the character. Alongside a crew of penguin audio engineers, Scooter is doing everything he can to get the band out of the studio and to their concert before the fans lose patience.
From there, guests climb aboard the Lengthy Immediate Motion Object, better known as the L.I.M.O., courtesy of Muppet Labs, for a high speed race across town.

The Holiday Set List
The heart of the overlay is a new soundtrack featuring The Electric Mayhem and some special guests:
- “Holiday Road” by The Electric Mayhem featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear
- “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by The Electric Mayhem featuring Jennifer Hudson
- “Silver Bells” by The Electric Mayhem featuring Cyndi Lauper
- “Little Saint Nick” by The Electric Mayhem
“Holiday Road” is an especially fun pick for anyone who grew up on National Lampoon’s Vacation, and hearing Kermit and Fozzie join the band on a road trip anthem while you launch out of the alley feels like a perfect Muppets match. Pairing Jennifer Hudson’s powerhouse vocals with a Darlene Love classic and Cyndi Lauper with “Silver Bells” should give each ride a very different feel.

Plan Your Holiday Visit
The overlay runs November 4 through January 6, giving Hollywood Studios guests more than two months to catch it. That window covers the busiest weeks of the year at Walt Disney World, so expect longer waits than usual, especially around Thanksgiving and between Christmas and New Year’s. If this is a must do for your trip, consider Lightning Lane or riding early in the morning or late at night.
While you’re in the area, the Muppets fun continues next door with FØØD by Swedish Chef, which recently revealed its menu.
