Hooray! Bluey is getting into the holiday spirit early. A brand new Bluey balloon inspired by the Christmas special “Christmas Swim” will make its debut at the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City on Thursday, November 26.
The new balloon shows Bluey wearing her festive paper Christmas crown from “Christmas Swim.” In that fan favorite episode, the Heeler family celebrates a warm Australian Christmas around a backyard pool. It’s a fun way to bring a little Aussie holiday cheer to the streets of New York as the parade kicks off the holiday season.
A Giant Holiday Bluey
This Bluey is huge! The balloon measures about 47 feet long, 27.8 feet wide, and 47.2 feet tall. It was designed by Ludo Studio, the Australian studio behind Bluey, and built by the artists at Macy’s Parade Studio.
“As one of the world’s most beloved characters, Bluey has captured the hearts of families across generations,” said Jordan Dabby, Macy’s parade producer.
Suzy Raia, Executive Vice President of Global Consumer Products at BBC Studios, added, “We’re honored to celebrate the Parade’s 100th anniversary in New York City with a festive new Bluey balloon.”
There’s also a special treat for fans. Melanie Zanetti and Dave McCormack, the voices of Bluey’s mum and dad, Chilli and Bandit, will be at the parade in person.
Bluey’s Parade History
Bluey first floated down the parade route in 2022 and has returned every year since. Last year’s balloon showed Bluey playing Keepy Uppy, joined by Bingo and Muffin dressed as the Grannies, Rita and Janet, a nod to another favorite episode. This year’s Christmas balloon is a perfect way to mark the parade’s big 100th birthday.
How to Watch
The 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs Thursday, November 26 at 8:30 a.m. in all time zones on NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo. Once the parade wraps up, you can watch “Christmas Swim” and the rest of Bluey on Disney+ and Disney Junior.
