Former CEO of the Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek, has a lot to say apparently so he wrote a tell all book that hits shelves tomorrow.
His memoir is called ‘Behind the Castle Walls: My Thirty Years at the Happiest Place on Earth,’ and from what people are saying, it’s quite telling. Almost juicy I suppose. The streets are talking, and I found a peek at what you can expect in this new book.
The short version of what he’s saying:
He denies any personal responsibility for his downfall, his line is basically “the answer is nothing,” as in he did nothing wrong
He blames Bob Iger, claiming Iger ran a “relentless sabotage campaign” against him, disparaging him to Hollywood power players, and played “an intentional and preconceived role in abruptly ending my ride as Disney CEO”
He calls himself a “disrupter” about 30 times throughout the book
On getting fired before he could finish what he started: “In truth, it pisses me off”
He stands by the park price hikes and calls criticism of Disney’s earnings under him “an absurdity”
He also reveals he hasn’t been back to Disney World since the ousting.
The New York Times got an early look and that’s where most of this is coming from. Pretty spicy for a Disney exec book, this one’s going to fuel Disney fan debates for weeks. I’ve met Bob Chapek quite a few times, so I’m extremely interested in what he has to say. What about you?
