If you needed any more proof that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is firing on all cylinders right now, this should do it. According to a new report from Deadline, Marvel Studios just set the all time streaming record on Disney+ — and the biggest movie of the year hasn’t even hit theaters yet.

420 Million Hours in a Single Month
In August 2026, Marvel content on Disney+ racked up a staggering 420 million hours viewed, making it the highest performing month in the franchise’s entire history on the platform. Even more impressive, Deadline notes this marks “the highest lift Disney+ has ever seen driven by a theatrical release,” with over 200 million of those hours directly tied to fans catching up ahead of Avengers: Doomsday.
In other words, people are doing their homework before December 18 — and it’s paying off for Disney in a big way.
The Doomsday Effect Is Real

The excitement surrounding Avengers: Doomsday is clearly driving fans back to Disney+ to rewatch everything MCU. And why wouldn’t it? The film brings back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, features more than 30 confirmed characters from across the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and beyond, and is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo — the team behind Infinity War and Endgame. Pre-sales for Doomsday have already surpassed $50 million, which is another massive number.
This all comes off the heels of Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s incredible $2.4 billion worldwide box office run, making it the third highest grossing film of all time. The MCU’s momentum right now is undeniable.

Plenty More Marvel on Disney+ This Year
If you’re looking to keep the marathon going, there’s still more MCU content coming to Disney+ in 2026. VisionQuest premieres in October, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 is set for January 2027. Earlier this year, fans also got Wonder Man season 1, Daredevil: Born Again season 2, The Punisher: One More Kill, and X-Men ’97 season 2 — so there’s no shortage of content to catch up on before Doomsday arrives.
Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18, 2026. Are you planning to do a full MCU rewatch before then? Tell us in the comments!
