Ryan Reynolds Promises Marvel Will Explain That Mysterious Thor Moment from Deadpool Wolverine

If you’ve been lying awake wondering why Thor was crying in that baffling flash-forward scene in Deadpool & Wolverine, you’re not alone. Ryan Reynolds himself wants answers too, and he’s promising that Marvel will eventually deliver them.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Today, Reynolds was asked about the curious moment in the film where Deadpool glimpses a future version of himself gravely injured while Chris Hemsworth’s Thor looks on in tears. Reynolds’ response was classic Deadpool energy: “Don’t we all want to know why was Thor crying? I want to know too. We will find out at some point. And I’m excited for people to find out.”

Could the Answer Be in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars?

Naturally, the follow-up question is whether that mystery will be solved in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. On that front, Reynolds played coy, claiming he had no idea what his role in either film might be, despite having shown up alongside Hugh Jackman at both San Diego Comic-Con and D23 this summer to help build hype. He also doubled down on his “confusion” about the clip where he and Jackman appeared to be jokingly begging for roles in Doomsday, saying he “still didn’t know” what it meant.

Sure, Ryan.

For what it’s worth, Reynolds’ involvement in Avengers: Doomsday was already reported last year by The Hollywood Reporter, so his appearance in the film is considered a given at this point. Marvel has simply been keeping the promotional focus on the film’s bigger players, including the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, for now.

Meanwhile, Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo made headlines earlier this week by confirming they began shooting the film without a completed script, saying that their improvisational approach is where “the magic happened.”

One way or another, it sounds like the MCU has big plans for Deadpool going forward. The crying Thor mystery will be solved eventually, and something tells us it’s going to be worth the wait!
