Disneyland Resort closed early Sunday due to Tropical Storm Hilary.
Disneyland Resort closed at 10 p.m. Sunday, instead of 12 a.m and Disney California Adventure closed at 9 p.m. instead of 10 p.m., the park confirmed. The park’s dining and shopping area, that usually closes at 1 a.m., closed at 11 p.m.
Disneyland’s three hotels did remain open during the closure.
Similar to Disneyland Resort, many other theme parks in Southern California also saw closure due to the storm. Knott’s Berry Farm and Knott’s Soak City water park and California Marketplace closed Sunday. Knott’s tickets dated for Sunday can be used any day throughout the rest of the year. Soak City tickets can be used through Oct 1.
Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor water park closed Sunday.
SeaWorld San Diego on Mission Bay and the Sesame Place San Diego water park in Chula Vista closed Sunday. SeaWorld and Sesame Place is allowing guests to reschedule refund previously booked reservations.
Universal Studios Hollywood opened at 8 a.m. on Sunday and planned to remain open until 10 p.m.. CityWalk also planned to maintain their standard operating hours as well during the storm.
The storm was originally a Category 4 hurricane. However, it slowed down as it approached Southern California. While making land the storm flooded roads and knocked out power for some.
Rainfall totals from Hilary have reached 13.5 inches in San Bernardino County, and 11.7 inches in the mountains of Riverside County.
Los Angeles County recorded over 7 inches of rain. Downtown L.A. recorded 2.48 inches of rainfall on Sunday, making it the wettest August day ever in that area, according to the National Weather Service.
Palm Springs saw more than 3 inches, which broke the desert city’s all-time daily summer rain record.
San Diego saw 1.82 inches of rain, making Sunday the wettest August day on record in the city, according to ABC News. Plus, Escondido and Cuyamaca saw 2.66 inches and 4.11 inches, respectively, marking the wettest month of August for those regions.
