What does harmony sound like? For some, it’s the sound of dazzling fireworks lighting the night sky or the melody of their favorite Disney song that unlocks a childhood memory.
For cast at Magic Kingdom Park, harmony sounds like the familiar snip of hair-cutting shears returning to Main Street, U.S.A.
Yesterday morning, cast members who call Harmony Barber Shop “home” were filled with pure delight during a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for the shop’s grand reopening.
“It finally feels like we’re all home,” explains Holly, a Harmony Barber Shop stylist. “We made it and we’re here! This is the last piece of a classic puzzle.”
While guests of all ages are excited to return to the shop’s quaint interior and timeless experience, the stylists may be even more enthusiastic to not only return to the roles they love, but also to connect with guests in the classic nostalgia of a timeliness barbershop experience.
“I just couldn’t imagine celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort without Harmony Barber Shop. Today is a day two-and-a-half years in the making, and this is an extra special moment as the final Main Street, U.S.A. location reopens its doors at Magic Kingdom Park,” shared Melissa Valiquette, Vice President of Magic Kingdom Park.
Since Magic Kingdom Park opened in 1971, Harmony Barber Shop has greeted guests at the entrance to Main Street, U.S.A. and its iconic chairs have provided priceless memories for guests.
Fans of this one-of-a-kind experience know that the true charm of Harmony Barber Shop has always been the friendly banter from the location’s cast members. Behind every first haircut or fresh trim has been a cast member making sure the experience is a memory that will last a lifetime.
“It’s amazing that even though time moves fast, I recognize guests coming back year after year. Together, we share special memories on every repeat visit,” Kassandra, a coordinator at Harmony Barber Shop grinned.
Whether today is their first day making sure guests look sharp in the park or their 100th styling appointment, our cast members are continuing a legacy of unique and personalized magic 50 years in the making.
Welcome “home” and thank you for all the memories you have helped shape over the past 50 years!
