Growing up in the Philippines as a young boy, Christian never thought it would be possible to live out his dream to work for Disney, much less travel the world. Christian has worked for Disney for 12 years in many roles. He says that while he “lives out of a suitcase,” he has found his true passion in his current role as an Adventure Guide with Adventures by Disney.
“During our trips, guests get to see the world through our eyes as storytellers and experience it through the world-class service Disney is known for. As an Adventure Guide, we immerse guests in the customs, traditions and daily life of the people, places and cultures during the trip and share unique and authentic experiences. We tend to every detail of the trip as well as make recommendations for family meals and things that should not be missed during the adventure,” shared Christian.
Christian’s first trip as a Guide was the Disneyland Resort and Southern California tour and, most notably during his tenure with Adventures by Disney, he’s been to China more than 40 times! “I love going to China with our guests. It’s like sharing a piece of my home with them. My guests even refer to me as Papa Panda!” he said.
“One of the unique aspects of our tours is that our guests go behind-the-scenes in incredible locations. From private tours of the Vatican to the Great Wall to the Baltic, these opportunities are not generally available to the public,” said Christian.
In reflecting on a recent memorable experience, Christian shared, “I was able to go on a tour with a fellow Guide, Chris, after being friends for over 10 years. We had the opportunity to explore the beauty of the southwest together. My favorite memory from that trip together was walking with him in the Grand Canyon National Park in the total darkness and him teaching me about everything we’re seeing in the sky.”
When reflecting on his current role Christian shared, “As an Adventure Guide you become family and lifelong friends with your guests. During trips you eat together, sweat together, experience the same moments together –it’s really special to have those connections with guests. The sights and sounds, the amazing guests you tour the world with – those are some of my most treasured memories from my seasons as an Adventure Guide.”
