Loki has been the center of attention in the MCU, as of recent, following the release of his own series on Disney+–which has broken records on the streaming service. And it seems this momentum is only going to continue as it’s been heavily rumored the villain will be appearing in the future MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The news comes from Hollywood Reporter in a recent report, which shares it is “expected” that Loki will appear in the sequel film, and he will be joined by excellent company. Similarly, the series finale of WandaVision confirmed Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff will have a role in the upcoming sequel. Of course, Marvel hasn’t confirmed this news 100%. However, from this report, we’re quite confident it’s valid.
For those who haven been following along with the current “Loki” series, you may also be delighted to hear the TV show has already been renewed for a second season, which is currently in early stages of preproduction. At this time, it is not known when the second series will begin filming or premiere on the streaming service.
The series is currently streaming on Disney+ and the finale episode of the first season airs Wednesday, July 14. Those who have already tuned into the episode say it’s quite the finale–and not to include any spoilers–is said to set up a second season quite well.
At this time, not much is known of what Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be about. All we know is that the film will take place following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), WandaVision (2021) and Loki (2021) and will follow Dr. Strange’s continuing research on the Time Stone, which will be hindered by a friend-turned-enemy, resulting in Strange unleashing unspeakable evil.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere in theaters March 25, 2022.
