Disney World Now Allowing Some Cast Members Outdoors to Go Without Masks

Walt Disney World has loosened its mask policy again! Officially, the theme park resort is now allowing some cast members in outdoor roles to go without a mask.

The change came yesterday for select Disney cast members who are able to properly social distance–this includes those that are parking attendants and parade float drivers. Cast members who are eligible for the new policy are required to put on a mask anytime they go indoors or are unable to maintain a 6-foot distance.

It’s not known if Disney is requiring these special cast members to be vaccinated in order for them to be eligible for going without a mask.

More recently, a few Central Florida theme parks have been loosening restrictions when it comes to masks. Last week, it was announced that SeaWorld would allow employees to go without face masks entirely, if fully vaccinated. SeaWorld is the first of all the Florida theme parks to allow its vaccinated employees to go without face masks, if vaccinated. Guests will be able to determine if an employee holds these special privileges because they will have a sticker on their name tag identifying their eligibility to go mask-free.

Additionally, last week both theme park resorts saw the elimination of temperature taking stations. Currently, guests can go without a mask at Universal Orlando regardless of whether they are inside or outside. A week prior to this guests were allowed to go without a mask outdoors. Now, the rule has been extended to indoors as well. However, it’s worth noting that none of the theme parks are actually checking if each guest is vaccinated. The theme parks are operating on an honor system.

What are your thoughts on the loosening of restrictions on both employees and guests wearing face masks to the Central Florida theme parks? Let us know in the comments!

  1. It’s about time! Now, if they can just be rid of masks on attractions and stores on everyone. If people want to wear masks, more power to them. But for the rest of else, off with the masks.
