Potential spoilers ahead!
WandaVision is getting better and better each and every week and we are just barely half way done with the series. In last weeks show, when Wanda came out to talk to S.W.O.R.D. and bring them their drone, we saw just how angry and powerful she really can be. The last episode even confirmed that she could have beaten Thanos by herself had he not called rain fire in Avengers: Endgame.
There is a part of the episode from last week I wanted to talk about, and it didn’t involve Wanda or Vision directly. Midway through episode 5, Darcy, Jimmy and Monica are all trying to figure out a way how Monica can get back into Westview. She mentions creating a vehicle with some very complicated tech that would help to protect her. She wants to build a fall-out shelter on wheels, equipped with “lead for photons, cadmium for neutrons, tantalum for seismic blasts.” She then makes the statement, “I know an Aerospace Engineer who’d be up for this challenge.” Then she proceeds to text someone, but we don’t know who. Of course this starts the Marvel fans speculating.
So who could it be? I had my guess from the start, but realized with all the characters Marvel has, there has to be others who could be qualified. I started to do my research and found Adam Brashear — the legendary Blue Marvel. Brashear is fairly new to the Marvel Universe Comics, debuting in 2008. Recently in the comics, Rambeau and Brashear were on the same team, battling a massive cosmic threat in a version of the Ultimates. Brashear was a member of the US Marine Corp, so that makes it very possible he could have had some involvement with S.W.O.R.D. in the past and then knowing Monica.
Another character that it could be is Riri Williams, a.k.a. Ironheart. Even a newer character to the Universe, Riri was first created in 2015 and she will be getting her own series, “Ironheart” on Disney+ next year. She is just a teenager, but considered one of the smartest characters in the entire Marvel Universe. While this would be a way to introduce the character to the fans, I don’t think it’s her just because that show isn’t ready yet and having a year between introduction and series seems a bit too long.
The character I believe it to be is a character that has been around since the 1960’s. A character that was the leader of Marvel’s first family. I believe it’s going to be Reed Richards, Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four. For those that don’t know, Dr. Reed Richards is a scientist and inventor. He has often been considered the smartest man on Earth. He has a mastery of all the sciences including electrical, mechanical, electronics, chemistry, physics, biology and aerospace engineering. Without going into all the details, Reed along with 3 others were exposed to high levels of radiation and they formed the team the Fantastic Four.
Fans have been waiting for the Fantastic Four to make their MCU debut since Disney purchased Fox for the rights. At the 2020 Investors Day presentation, Kevin Feige last announcement was that the Fantastic Four were coming to the MCU. So this does make sense as a great way to introduce these characters into the MCU. This is just my opinion of who Monica was talking about. The next episode of WandaVision will debut this Friday, February 12, 2021.
