We’ve recently shared details about new experiences and merchandise offerings celebrating the Year of the Mouse and Lunar New Year at Disney Parks around the world. Today, I’m excited to share that Disney Parks have teamed up with award-winning couture fashion designer Guo Pei, facilitated by the Asian Couture Federation, to create new Lunar New Year-inspired outfits for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
Known throughout the fashion world in both China and internationally, Guo Pei has won dozens of awards for her beautiful, intricate designs. Her dresses can be found in fashion shows around the world and at events such as the Met Gala in New York. She is known for her devotion to conserving the traditional art of Chinese embroidery.
As seen above, Guo Pei herself revealed these new outfits with Mickey and Minnie at Disney California Adventure park earlier today. Guests visiting the park can meet Mickey and Minnie donning these new outfits now through Feb. 9 at Paradise Gardens Park.
At Shanghai Disneyland, from Lunar New Year through Lantern Festival (Jan. 25 – Feb. 8), Mickey and Minnie will also welcome guests in these new outfits in front of a Lunar New Year background on Mickey Avenue.
In addition, both parks have exclusive merchandise featuring Guo Pei’s elegant designs. At Disney California Adventure park, guests can purchase a Lunar New Year red envelope set and an Annual Passholder exclusive T-shirt for women. These products are available at Seaside Souvenirs as well as other various locations at Disney California Adventure park.
Guests visiting Shanghai Disney Resort can purchase a limited release Mickey and Minnie plush set wearing the new outfits as well as a limited edition pin at Avenue M Arcade on Mickey Avenue.
