October 28, 2026

This is the kind of holiday news that makes you want to mark the calendar right away! Disney is bringing Mickey’s Christmas Carol back to broadcast television for the first time in more than 20 years! Exciting!

Scrooge Mcduck and Mickey Mouse in Mickeys Christmas Carol Returning to Abc on November 25

The classic 1983 featurette will air on ABC on Wednesday, November 25 at 8pm ET/PT, the night before Thanksgiving, as part of The Wonderful World of Disney holiday lineup. It is the first time ABC has aired it since 2003.

If you somehow have never seen it, this is Disney’s take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, with the whole gang in the roles you know by heart. Scrooge McDuck plays Ebenezer Scrooge, Mickey Mouse is Bob Cratchit, Minnie Mouse is Mrs. Cratchit, Donald Duck is Scrooge’s nephew Fred, Goofy is the ghost of Jacob Marley, Jiminy Cricket is the Ghost of Christmas Past, Willie the Giant is the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Pete is the Ghost of Christmas Future.

The short runs about 26 minutes, and it is a special one in Disney history. Directed by Burny Mattinson, it marked Mickey’s return to a new theatrical cartoon after 30 years, and it even picked up an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short. It became a holiday TV staple through the years, airing on NBC in the 1980s and CBS in the 1990s before landing at ABC in 2000 and 2003. Since then it has mostly lived on cable and on Disney+, where you can still stream it year round.

There is something extra magical about watching it on regular TV again, the way so many of us grew up doing. So set a reminder, grab some cocoa, and get ready to watch Scrooge learn the true spirit of the season all over again on Wednesday, November 25 at 8pm on ABC. Stay tuned to The Main Street Mouse for more! For all the holiday happenings at Walt Disney World, please be sure to check out our Christmas at Walt Disney World 2026 guide.
