Walmart Muppet Christmas Carol Stars Walton Goggins as Scrooge

October 26, 2026

Stop what you are doing, because this is the holiday surprise nobody saw coming. Walmart debuted a brand new holiday campaign on Monday, October 26, and it is a full on a full on reimagining of The Muppet Christmas Carol starring Walton Goggins as Scrooge. It is called “A Who Knew?, Carol” and it was made with Disney and The Muppets Studio as the latest chapter of Walmart’s Who Knew? platform.

Walton Goggins As Ebenezer Scrooge with Kermit the Frog in Walmarts a Who Knew Carol Holiday Ad

Walton Goggins steps into the top hat as Ebenezer Scrooge, and he is joined by a full Muppet ensemble. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, the Great Gonzo, Rizzo the Rat, and Pepe the King Prawn all show up to sing about gifts until Scrooge delivers his famous line, Bah, humbug.

The campaign kicks off with a long form musical video that reimagines the film’s iconic opening song, Scrooge, into A Who Knew Carol. And in a very Walmart twist, Scrooge is visited by three brand new ghosts: the Ghost of Christmas Presents, the Ghost of Deals to Come, and the Ghost of Christmas Fast. Each one stands for a different part of Walmart’s holiday story, from its gift lineup to Black Friday savings to fast delivery.

The ads will run across broadcast, online video, streaming, social, and more, in both English and Spanish, all through the holiday season. So if you love the 1992 movie, and let us be honest, who does not, this one is going to be hard to miss.

It is not a sequel, and it is not a new movie… But it is the next best thing: the Muppets back on a snowy Victorian street, singing a Christmas carol, with a brand new Scrooge learning the same old lesson. Bah, humbug indeed. It’s fabulous!

Stay tuned to The Main Street Mouse for more holiday fun all season long!
