Huluween is back, and this year’s lineup has something for every kind of Halloween fan. Disney+ and Hulu are filling October with new specials, returning series, spooky documentaries, and plenty of classics, so you can stay in and still get your scare on. Some of these are made for little monsters and some are strictly for grown ups. Here’s everything coming your way this season.
A New Spidey and the Avengers Halloween Special
Young Marvel fans have an all new animated special to look forward to. Marvel’s Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up! arrives on Disney+ and sends Spidey and the Avengers up against Hallows’ Eve and Jack O’Lantern, two villains who plan to ruin Halloween for everyone.
The voice cast includes some surprising music names. Este Haim of HAIM joins the special, along with Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy. Stump also wrote two original songs for it, so expect this one to have some catchy tunes along with the costumed fun.
Vampirina: Teenage Vampire Returns for Season 2
Vee is back! Season 2 of Vampirina: Teenage Vampire premieres October 6 on Disney Channel and streams on Disney+ starting October 7. Kenzi Richardson returns as Vee, a tween vampire attending a performing arts boarding school while doing her best to keep her true identity a secret.
This season brings some fun guest stars, including Jodie Sweetin, Ava Jean, and Hudson Stone.
Coven Academy Casts Its Spell
Witches take center stage in Coven Academy, which premiered October 1 on Freeform and is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu as of October 2. Executive produced by Tim Federle, the series follows three teenage witches at an elite magic school in New Orleans as they deal with supernatural conflicts and everyday teenage drama.
The series stars Malina Weissman, Ora Duplass, and Jordan Leftwich, and all 21 chapters give you plenty to binge this month.
Clown Panic Revisits 2016’s Creepiest Trend
Remember when clown sightings were popping up all over the country? Clown Panic arrives on Hulu October 12 and looks back at the 2016 American clown sightings and the mass hysteria that followed. This documentary might make you think twice the next time you see a red balloon.
Haunted Favorites for the Whole Family
If you want something the entire family can enjoy, Muppets Haunted Mansion is a must. Streaming on Disney+ since 2021, the special follows Gonzo as he spends Halloween night inside the Haunted Mansion. It features three original songs and a long list of celebrity cameos, making it a perfect pick for Disney Parks fans.
And of course, Halloween wouldn’t be complete without the Sanderson Sisters. Hocus Pocus (1993), starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, is available on Hulu.
Marvel Goes Monster Hunting
Werewolf by Night, the 2022 Marvel Studios Special Presentation, is streaming on Disney+. Michael Giacchino made his directorial debut with this one, and its look and feel pay tribute to the horror films of the 1930s and 1940s. The story follows a group of monster hunters who gather at Bloodstone Temple for a deadly competition. It’s a great pick for Marvel fans who want something a little darker this October.
Spooky Picks for Grown Ups
Once the kids are in bed, Hulu has you covered with some seriously creepy options:
- FX’s Alien: Earth is now streaming on Hulu. Set in the year 2120, the series follows encounters with mysterious life forms after a spaceship crashes into Prodigy City.
- Soulm8te is streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. An engineer tests an AI android designed to be a sentient soulmate, with dangerous results.
- FX’s American Horror Story: 13 is now streaming on Hulu. The 13th installment from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk features returning cast members reprising fan favorite roles.
Don’t Forget the Classics
Huluween also includes a lineup of Halloween classics worth revisiting, including Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Haunted Mansion (2023). These are perfect for a cozy movie night with a bowl of candy.
