The Russo Brothers used the Encore event to debut exclusive footage from Avengers: Doomsday, and the scenes have fans buzzing. Here is what was teased:
Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter’s long-awaited fate takes a dramatic twist when Loki shows up to disrupt things. Dr. Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., is seen collecting Bruce Banner for reasons that are not yet clear. And in a chilling sequence set within the Time Variance Authority, the Multiverse is shown collapsing through multiple simultaneous incursions.
Joe Russo described the TVA scene in no uncertain terms: “The TVA’s sole job is to protect the timelines from collapsing, and now they’re all collapsing at once.” Yep, things are going to get very intense.
The Russos Are Being Very Deliberate
Anthony Russo spoke about how carefully they approached building a bridge between Endgame and Doomsday, saying, “When we made that film, we were so specifically committed to that movie as an ending of stories, not a beginning of new stories.” That kind of care and intentionality from the directors is exactly what fans have been hoping to hear.
More Cast Members Still to Be Announced
Here is one detail that is sure to send the speculation into overdrive. Anthony Russo confirmed that the announced cast is far from complete. “The pattern that you’re sensing is real. We have absolutely not announced the entire cast.” So whoever you are hoping to see show up in Doomsday, your wish might still come true!
Heroes From Three Universes Come Together
Perhaps the most exciting element of Avengers: Doomsday is the sheer scale of it. The film will bring together heroes from three separate universes for the first time on the big screen. The Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Thunderbolts, and the Wakandans are all set to share the screen in what could be the biggest Marvel moment ever put to film.
