Things are heating up ahead of the October 14 premiere of VisionQuest on Disney+, and the latest batch of character posters just gave MCU fans a lot to talk about. Marvel has officially introduced Tommy Maximoff, also known as Speed, confirming he will appear in the upcoming series and with him, the Young Avengers roster is starting to look very real.
Meet Speed
Tommy Maximoff is portrayed by Ruaridh Mollica in VisionQuest, and his arrival raises some fascinating questions for MCU continuity. If you remember WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff created her twin sons Billy and Tommy using her hex powers over Westview — but when Monica Rambeau broke through the hex, Wanda was forced to let them go.
That was not the end of the story, though. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness showed Wanda desperately searching for her children across alternate realities. Then Agatha All Along dropped a major revelation about Billy: his spirit had found its way into the body of a teenager named Billy Kaplan after a fatal car accident, making Billy Kaplan the host for the soul of Wanda’s son.
The expectation is that Tommy’s situation likely works in a similar way — his spirit carrying on in some form, which is exactly the kind of emotionally rich, mind-bending storytelling the MCU does so well.

The Young Avengers Are Assembling
With Tommy now confirmed, the lineup of Young Avengers within the MCU is really starting to take shape. Here is where things stand across the various projects:
- Ms. Marvel, who was recruited by Kate Bishop in The Marvels
- Kate Bishop, who took on the Hawkeye mantle in her own Disney+ series
- Stature, introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
- Billy Kaplan, also known as Wiccan, who debuted in Agatha All Along
- Tommy Maximoff, also known as Speed, arriving in VisionQuest
That is five members of a team that comic fans have been waiting years to see on screen. In the comics, Billy and Tommy first appeared as infants back in 1986, were erased from continuity, and then made their way back in the landmark 2005 Young Avengers series. Tommy officially joined the team in issue #10 of that run in 2006, bringing his signature white hair and super speed along with him.
What to Expect From VisionQuest
VisionQuest premieres on Disney+ on October 14, 2026. In addition to Tommy Maximoff, the series will also feature Vision and Ultron in human forms, which is another detail that has fans speculating wildly about where the story is headed.
