The trailer shows off the handcrafted artistry behind the stop motion versions of Penny and her family while teasing a whimsical holiday adventure.
What A Proud Family Wizmas Is About
In this song filled special, Penny Proud accidentally destroys Christmas as we know it. Now she has to (reluctantly) make things right and save Christmas for the children of Emilyville and the rest of the world. When Disney first announced the special, it shared that Penny’s complaints about Wizmas and how commercial Christmas has become are what lead Santa to quit on Christmas Eve.
It’s a big change in look for the series, trading the show’s classic 2D animation for stop motion. Disney Television Animation produced the special with Portland based stop motion studio HouseSpecial. Creator and executive producer Bruce W. Smith directs, executive producer Ralph Farquhar wrote the special, and David Brooks is co-director. Kurt Farquhar, who wrote The Proud Family’s famous theme song, returns as songwriter and composer with six new original songs.

The beloved voice cast returns, including Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, JoMarie Payton as Suga Mama and Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby.
