Marvel Studios just stepped up to the plate in a big way! A brand new look at Avengers: Doomsday debuted tonight during Game 1 of the 2026 World Series, and it mixed the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom, and some of baseball’s biggest stars into one wild scene.
The sneak peek aired on FOX as the Milwaukee Brewers hosted the Tampa Bay Rays at American Family Field. It shows a new scene from the film set at Ebbets Field in the Fantastic Four’s universe, the retro futuristic world fans first visited in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Reed Richards, sporting a Brooklyn Dodgers cap, uses his stretchy arm to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
For the World Series version, Marvel cut five MLB stars right into the dugout: Bryce Harper of the Phillies, Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers, Randy Arozarena of the Mariners, Junior Caminero of the Rays, and Jacob Misiorowski, who also happened to be the Brewers’ starting pitcher for Game 1. Misiorowski even gets a laugh line about how ceremonial first pitches keep getting bigger every year.
Then things take a turn. Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., appears in the sky above the ballpark, and Harper tells the group, “We gotta go. Like, now.”
MLB teased the moment on Thursday with a short video of the players hanging out on the field as the sky turned green and the Avengers logo appeared. The Fantastic Four’s official Instagram got in on the fun too, joking that the surprise was brought to fans by Frosty Treats in collaboration with the Future Foundation.
Longtime Marvel fans will know this isn’t the MCU’s first Brooklyn Dodgers moment. In Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve Rogers wakes up to a Dodgers game playing on the radio, one of the first clues that something isn’t quite right.
Avengers: Doomsday is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and arrives in theaters December 18, 2026. The film brings together the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Thunderbolts as Doctor Doom threatens the entire multiverse.
